2017 CAI “Strings, Voice, Piano Competition

Winners Concert: Weill Recital at Carnegie Hall
Saturday, July 15, 2017, 7:30 pm

Open to musicians of all nationalities and countries
Instrumental Soloists (piano, strings)
Chamber Music Ensembles (duos to quintets)
Vocalists (opera, art song, musical theater)

Repertoire Requirements:

Instrumentalists: One piece/one movement from the standard repertoire from any period.

Vocalists: One aria/one song from the standard repertoire from any period.

One movement of a Sonata or Concerto will be accepted as one piece.

Other genres also may be accepted at the discretion of the jury and committee.

Categories and Performance Time Limits

Aspiring Artists Age 5 up to Kindergarten
up to 5 minutes
Young Artists I Grades 1 to 3 up to 6 minutes
Young Artists II Grades 4 to 6

up to 6 minutes

Junior Artists Grades 7 to 9

up to 7 minutes

Senior Artists Grades 10 to 12 up to 7 minutes
Professional Artists College and beyond
no age limit

up to 8 minutes


Performance Opportunities at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall
First, second and third prize winners will perform in a winners concert at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 7:30 PM.

First, Second, Third and Honorable Mention Prizes in each category will be awarded based on the video recordings.
Grand prize(s) may be awarded to contestants who have submitted exceptional audition videos.
Multiple winners may be chosen in each category according to the recommendations of the jury.

Cash Awards
Outstanding Performance Prize(s) and Special Jury Prize(s) may be awarded to top, outstanding performers based on the live performance at the Winners' Concert.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the Outstanding Performance Prize and Special Jury Prize Winners.

Certificates will be awarded to all winners.
Certificates of appreciation will be awarded to the teachers of all winners.
Written feedback will be offered to every single applicant based on the video audition.
The evaluation and feedback will be made by professional musicians and highly respected music professors and teachers.

Winners Announcement:
Winners will be notified individually via email Monday, July 3, 2017.
The official winners' list will be announced on our website by Monday, July 10, 2017.

There is a performance fee for the Winners Concert at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Please see our rules and regulations for more info

How to Apply:


Be sure to provide a link to YouTube or other video sharing sites of your performance on the application form.
Be sure to pay the application fee via PayPal (Solo-$130, Chamber Music-$85 Per Performer).

1. Complete the online Application Form.

2. Video Audition:
Submit a video recording of the piece you would like to perform by providing a link to YouTube or other video sharing sites on the application form.
If you are unable to do this, you may also physically mail in a DVD of your performance to the address below.

3. Application Fee:
Pay the Application Fee (non refundable).
Application Fee for Solo performers: $130
Application Fee for Chamber Music Ensemble Performers: $85 per Performer
Make the check or money order payable to Concert Artists International, Inc. and mail it to the below address.
